1. (Dis)empowered Museums, Call for Papers, Museological Review

The peer-reviewed “Museological Review”, run by the PhD Community at Leicester, is inviting submission to their journal issue on (Dis)empowered museums, specifically asking for contributions on such topics as repatriation, decolonisation, and contested histories. Certainly some interesting possibilities in there! Submissions from postgrads welcome.

2. Third All Art and Cultural Heritage Law Conference, Geneva, Switzerland

The Art-Law Centre at the University of Geneva is having their third All Art and Cultural Heritage Law conference. I’ve been to the other two and they were fascinating. The theme this year is National Treasures: Limits to Private Property and Cross-Border Movements.

4. Archaeology PhD Proposal Competition/Workshop, University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is inviting submissions to it’s PhD Proposal Competition and Workshop. Potential PhD students with excellent first degrees and cutting edge research ideas are invited to submit their ideas and come to the PhD proposal workshop. Travel costs for the 10 best UK applicants to the workshop will be funded, though international students are encouraged to get in touch too. Why not do a project on antiquities trafficking? We have a number of researchers working in this field at Glasgow.

8. Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, Job, Niobrara, Nebraska

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is looking for a historic preservation officer who, among other duties, will deal with issues related to looting and vandalism on tribal land and will be the Tribe’s point person on NAGPRA issues. Experience working with Native Americans a must and preference will be given to a member of a federally recognized tribe.
