3. Postdoctoral Researcher: The Restitution of Knowledge–artefacts as archives in the (post)colonial museum, Job, Oxford, UK

“The project seeks to intervene in current dialogues about restitution by generating and sharing of knowledge about the ongoing histories of colonial loot.” This looks very interesting. Must have your PhD by 1 July to apply.

4. Provenance Researcher, Job, Gotha, Germany

“The Stiftung Schloss Friedenstein Gotha is seeking a provenance researcher for the project: Provenance research and research into the genesis of the collection.” It’s a 3 year position. Presumably good German is needed.

5. Archive Archaeology: Preserving and Sharing Palmyra’s Cultural Heritage, Postdoctoral Fellowship (Job), Aarhus, Denmark

This postdoc will work on publishing Harald Ingholt’s digital archives of Palmyra online with a hope to assess the current damage to Palmyrene cultural heritage and aid in reconstruction of lost contexts. Note the comically impossible-seeming language requirement so perhaps ask about that before applying.

6. Imagining the Pacific in Scotland in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries: Collectors and Collections, Museums and Universities, PhD Studentship, Norwich, UK

An AHRC funded studentship jointly supported by University of East Anglia and National Museums Scotland, looking at the collections that resulted from Scotland’s Pacific presence. Only UK or EU citizens may apply.

Cost: £15,285 per annum and a Collaborative Doctoral Award maintenance payment of £600 per annum; UEA supplements this with an additional annual £1000 stipend payment for three years and a fieldwork bursary of up to £2000. 7. Provenance research: debating a practical science, Call for Papers/Conference, Zurich

This conference “will bring together a variety of stakeholders in provenance research and stimulate exchange around significant themes and methodological issues”; suggested topics on the site. Note they say participants should have a passive knowledge in German, French, and English.

8. Technologies for Cultural Heritage, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships, Venice, Italy

The Centre for Cultural Heritage Technology is eager to support Marie Curie applications for people who want to work on projects related to remote sensing of looted archaeological sites and tech to counter looting and trafficking of heritage.
